What is multi car insurance?

If you insure more than one car with Direct Line you can benefit from our multi-car discount. We’ll give you 15% off your household’s second or subsequent vehicles that are insured with us for the first year of the policy. And we’ll give you a further 5% off at renewal and every year after that!

If you take out comprehensive car insurance on your vehicles, you’ll get our top level of cover, designed to help make your motoring life easier. Benefits include:

• Uninsured driver promise - If you’re hit by an uninsured driver, we’ll cover your excess and your no claims discount won’t be affected and if it’s not your fault, we won’t leave you out of pocket
• Named driver no claims discount
• We know you can’t always protect your cars from vandals – so our Vandalism cover comes as standard and preserves your No Claims Discount for all cars on your insurance policy

How does multi car insurance work?

Multiple policyholders don’t have to be related, you just all need to live at the same address. Our multi-car discount also applies if you are a named driver on another Direct Line car insurance policy.

We also offer a matched no claims discount as part of our multi-car insurance deal. If you’re the only person insured on your policy and you purchase a second car that will only be driven by you, we’ll apply the number of claim-free years on your first car to a second or subsequent policy you take out with us. A subsequent no-claims discount is then applied to a second or subsequent policy dependent on these years.

How to apply for Direct Line multi car insurance

Existing customers

If you already hold a Direct Line car insurance policy and wish to add a second policy to qualify for our multicar discount, you can get a quote online.
